Fiberglass is fiber-reinforced plastic using glass fiber. Fiberglass manufacturers weave the fibers into a specific pattern for various kinds of strength e.g. flattened into a sheet called a chopped strand mat or woven into glass cloth.

The Cost-Effectiveness of Fiberglass
Fiberglass is a more cost-effective solution to carbon fiber, stronger than many metals by weight, non-magnetic, non-conductive, and transparent to electromagnetic radiation.
In our line of business and the subject of this blog article, Fiberglass can be molded into custom shapes and is chemically resistant. So while most people think of aircraft, boats, bathtubs, swimming pools, and cars, we think of pipes, tanks, fittings, containment areas, and custom equipment for Fiberglass.
The Durability of FRP
When properly combined with thermosetting polymers such as epoxy, polyester resin, or vinyl ester resin, Fiberglass becomes one of the most robust materials on the planet. That's why Fiberglass is a top choice for Chemical Manufacturers, Pulp & Paper Manufacturers, Waste Water Treatment Facilities, and dozens more.
Custom Fiberglass Services
Our skilled and experienced tradesmen use Fiberglass to make custom fabrications since 1988. Fiberglass Fabrication is the process of building a custom piece of equipment using a hand-lay technique. Here's how we do it:
Step 1: Evaluate and Plan the custom design needs
Step 2: Design the Mold to specific dimensions
Step 3: Hand-lay several fiberglass layers around the mold
Step 4: Cut the hardened Fiberglass from the mold
Step 5: Repair & Reinforce the fiberglass mold with additional layers of Fiberglass
Step 6: Sand
Step 7: Wax Coat

While it seems straightforward, it takes a unique technique and understanding of the materials to achieve the desired results. Most importantly, epoxy and resins are highly flammable and carry a strong odor, so it's essential to have trained professionals deal with these products.
We have the opportunity to custom fabricate various kinds of products for our customers throughout the east coast region. Check out some of our creations and let us know what you think!
